When God Speaks Through Your Child
I woke up this morning and realized this problem may not go away. It may not be an easy fix. It sure won’t be an inexpensive one. I was feeling defeated over how I have handled the stress of the last few days. I sent a text to a close friend confirming our play date. I told her I wasn’t gonna let satan steal my joy today. I meant it. Not today satan! I prayed over myself, the situation and our day.
I continued to fight anxiety & self-loathing as I decided to go about our day. I suggested to my 4 year old daughter that we re-read our three little library books before we returned them today. She was more than happy to do so. After reading the last one, she said, “Okay, let’s read the Bible now! Let’s read about Joseph!.” So we did, we opened her little Bible and read about how Joseph had been betrayed by his own family, thrown in a pit, and sold into slavery in another country. We read how God brought him through it all. He raised him up higher and higher. He lifted him, freed him and made him the chief administrator of Egypt. Yes, he became a great leader in the same country he was once a slave. I’ve heard this story a hundred times. But God. He knew I needed it today.
Sure, a refrigerator biting the dust is just a part of adulting. But feeding two toddlers all day out of ice chests for 2 days has been a challenge. Racking my brain of what to do and how to do it left me acting a fool. When things go wrong, we don’t always react the way we know we are supposed to.
When God sends a message through a friend, scripture, phone call, sermon, or better yet, your own child. Listen. Finally, I gave it to God. He had it all along, didn’t He?
